I figured I'd get a response like the one from Jay Jones re:
the Cold Storage issue, but his was too ridiculous to really
warrant serious comment. For the record, though, I was mostly
just pointing out facts. The government of the U.S. in 2005
(not Italy of 1940) provides major subsidies to corporations
and to, yes, non-profits. Many of them compete in the (free)
marketplace. And if Ketchikan decides not to compete using all
the resources available, that's Ketchikan's decision. I was
just saying that the community leaders ought to think about what
other communities are doing, including community development
through so-called non-profits.
Get a grip, Jay. And face
the facts.
