Ketchikan, Alaska - Two were injured Monday afternoon in an accident at the intersection of South Tongass Highway and Martin Bugge Road. Alaska State Troopers along with ABWE and the South Tongass Fire Department (STFD) responded to the accident at approximately 2:20 pm.

The Alaska State Troopers' investigation revealed that a silver 2002 Subaru, which was being driven by 24-year-old Francis Augustin, was traveling west on Martin Bugge Road when control of the vehicle was lost due to snow accumulation on the road surface. The vehicle slid onto the South Tongass Highway where it was stuck by a red 1989 Chevy truck which was traveling southbound and was being driven by 66-year-old Lorretta Dupuy.

A passenger in the silver Subaru, 21-year-old Cynthia Crowl was transported to Ketchikan General Hospital (KGH) for injuries she sustained in the accident. A passenger in the red Chevy truck, 47-year-old Jonothan Pritchett was transported to KGH for injuries sustained in the accident.

All occupants were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor. The Chevy truck sustained damage to the front end estimated at $2,500 and the Subaru sustained damage to the passenger side estimated at $9,000.
