Becky married Robert J. East in 1966 while waitressing tables at The Karney Manor in Rolla, Missouri. She then worked as a telephone operator in Rolla and later in Biloxi, Mississippi. She began her beloved family with the birth of Lorene in 1967 while at Littlerock AFB, Arkansas, and Robby was born in 1969. Her family writes that Becky was a remarkably hard worker with an exceptional work ethic and devoted her life to selflessly giving her all for the benefit of her beloved family. She faithfully worked in the Scottsdale/Tempe, AZ. area from 1971 until 2004 at a baby nursery while her babies were young and then at Lutes Pharmacy, Allyson's Gift Store, the Salt River Project, and lastly at Sears Service as a cashier. In 2004, with the laboring years finally behind her, she was rewarded with her life's dream - living in the mountains in cooler Ketchikan while she enjoyed her remaining time as a wife and homemaker. She was diagnoised with cancer in 2006. Among Becky's many Special Gifts was her radiating ability to lift those around her far above their own despair from the pain we endure within life's difficulties with an empowerment to cope and remain hopeful writes her family. "She shared a humor, laughter, spontaneity and magical gaiety that was uniquely her own, and many were made stronger by her." "She possessed the rare treasure of an understanding heart, filled with remarkable insight and an ability to immediately comprehend with clarity what others could not seem to understand because she saw it all so clearly and so quickly." Becky had a love for treasures given to her by those that loved her writes her family. "She held onto everything from the time she was little because she didn't want to let go of the love the items brought upon her! She was a light to those who knew and loved her and that light will forever shine! " "Babies and children were certainly a magnetic attraction for Becky's outpouring love and giving. She loved her husband and children unconditionally. She was the greatest Mom!" Becky is survived by her husband Robert Jefferson East (Ketchikan), and children, Lorene Mardell Jessen, (Ketchikan) and Robert Jeffery East (Serena), (Tucson, AZ); Grandchildren: Chistopher Michael Jessen (Flagstaff, AZ), Matthew Alexander Jessen (Flagstaff); Ian Robert East (Tucson); Father: E. Gene Carmichael (Casa Grande AZ.); Sisters Kelly Jean Tagge, (Waynesville, MO) and Christine Lee Gill (Doug), (Port Hueneme, CA.) The family extends a SPECIAL thank you to the medical field: Judy Glasspool, Julie Yonkers, Dr. Liljegren, Sherry, Deb Davis and many others. Also, and especially an extraordinary warm thank you to Becky's close friends, Harry and Chris Martin, Ron and Pam Bedard (Phoenix), Gary and Marty Willis (Fresno), and Kelly Tagge. There will be a Celebration Of Life gathering for friends and relatives Saturday, January 19, 2 to 4 PM at Harry and Chris Martin's home, 3734 Justice Ct. Ketchikan, Alaska.
