Take the politics out of fisheries decision making
By Louise Clark

Dear Editor Sitnews,

I agree whole heartedly with Mr. Rauwolf. I was born here nearly 70 years ago and have lived here most of my life and remember very well the unbelieveable masses of herring that once came through this area.

Can you still go to any dock and jig for herring as my son did as a child for his grandfather to pickle? Where do these herring come from? Are they the same ones they fish out of Chili and other places along the way? Not only do we catch them but they are eaten in masses by whales, seal, salmon, birds, even the hermit crabs take a toll on the eggs.

In my opinion it's time to take the politics out of the decision making of the fisheries, if we kill the herring we ALL die, plain and simple. Thank you for allowing me to state my opinion.

Sincerely,

Louise Clark
