Recent Road Conditions

I was stunned to see the letter of complaint regarding our city
roads during the recent snow. In all the years I have been in
Ketchikan I have never seen the snow so deep - or pile up so
quickly. I live only a block off of Water Street and I watched,
day after day, as the city workers plowed, filled dump trucks
and basically worked their tails off for days on end, far into
the night!
I thought the city did a great job with the resources we have.
And for what it's worth, the roads were probably safer on New
Year's Eve because so many people just walked downtown - including
myself! Far fewer drivers were on the road over the last month
and those that were seemed mindful of the slippery roads. I say
THANK YOU to all the city workers who worked so many hours to
plow, load and haul the snow. You did a great job!
And for those of you who thought that they could have done better
and were inconvenienced by the stuff - I hear Arizona has a lot
less snow to deal with. In case you forgot, you live in ALASKA!
