Enough is Enough

I just returned home from the Enough is Enough meeting at the Ted Ferry Civic Center. An estimated 300 people were in attendance. Hats off to Cathy, Zig and the other organizers and participants. The only downer was finding out at the end that the city had NOT donated the Ted Ferry Civic Center for this important event.

I did not mind putting my $20 in the jar, but I would much prefer it would go to cover the Enough is Enough expenses rather than to the city. I recall asking the city for the Civic Center free of charge for the Katrina Relief Fund Raiser. The city of Ketchikan stepped up to the plate for New Orleans, LA back then and we raised $18,500 that night to send south. Wouldn't it be great if the city would step forward in Ketchikan's time of need now and donate the Ted Ferry Civic Center for the benefit of Ketchikan? If the decision is made retroactively, the Enough is Enough group can be refunded some much needed funds. If you
missed donating for this cause, you might contact the group at enoughktn[at]gmail.com to find out how to donate.

City Council, please make this gesture of support and thanks for the folks who are making our community a better place to live and raise our families.
