Mat-Su Pretrial Escapee CapturedJanuary 06, 2011
Mat-Su Pretrial Facility - Palmer, Alaska Matte, a convicted felon and considered to be dangerous, escaped from the Palmer-based Mat-Su Pretrial Facility recreation yard at 8:05 Wednesday morning. Law enforcement officials were able to track Matte to a residence near the intersection of the Parks Highway and Stanley Road where Matte was apprehended trying to flee a house as law enforcement surrounded the premise. Matte was apprehended at approximately 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Troopers arrested one other individual in connection to Matte's escape. Kosha Lynae Jacob, 22 of Wasilla, was arrested Wednesday night for her involvement as an accomplice. She was charged with Escape in the Second Degree as an Accomplice and Hindering Prosecution. Her bail was set at $5,000 cash only. Following his apprehension, Matte received medical attention for injuries he received while escaping. No law enforcement officer was injured in Matte's apprehension Law enforcement officials with the Alaska State Troopers, U.S. Marshal's Service, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Palmer Police Department, Wasilla Police Department, Department of Corrections and the Palmer District Attorney’s Office assisted in the search. The circumstances surrounding his escape are under investigation.
