Senate Education Committee to Hold Hearing on Common Core and Alaska Academic Standards

“There appears to be a fair amount of misinformation and misunderstanding about these standards in Alaska,” said Education Committee Chair Gary Stevens, R-Kodiak. “This hearing is intended to help the Alaska Legislature and general public understands the standards, their importance and their impact on our Alaskan students.” The hearing will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 8:30am to 5:30pm, and continue on Wednesday, January 8, 2104 from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the temporary Anchorage Legislative Information Office (LIO) located at 733 West 4th Avenue, room 105. This is immediately across the street from the existing LIO. The hearing will also provide for public testimony. This hearing is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. If anyone is unable to attend in person, the meeting will be audio and video streamed at this link: http://akl.tv/ You may also go to your local Legislative Information Office to listen to or watch the hearing.
