Share the roadBy Lisa Krieger January 01, 2015
I too entered the center lane only to get some one hitting their horn to alert me... for what? I was not going to damage my vehicle anymore than theirs. I often let people out of spaces where it is congested. Alaska Marine Highway, KIC, A&P, The Landing and PeaceHealth are bad spots to be stuck. I end up going right to swing back around to the direction I needed. Pedestrians are just as bad. They walk out in front of you without yielding a bit so you get their attention. Yes, we give way but I think this community needs to be more on the ball. Marine View is a bad spot with residents crossing back and forth to the mall. I've been in public transportation and I am a cautious driver. I pay close attention to cross walks (except for one blinded night with someones headlights in my eyes, and I came within feet of someone who thought I was going to RUN her over. I apologized but that didn't seem to matter.) I would hope the city does something with these areas to help out the citizens. It has gotten more stressful driving. If you don't have patience, then you end up with road rage against others. Relax. Share the road. Life is too short. Besides that, Ketchikan is a small island and it DOES NOT take long to get to where you need to. I enjoy what I do and have to accept what we go through on a daily basis on the road. And another thing.. the speed limit is 25 MPH, not 18-20. Lisa Krieger Received December 19, 2014 - Published January 01, 2015 Related Viewpoint:
