(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - Jocko Reyes Scudero arrived last Friday, January 6th. He’s the first baby born at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in 2017. Jocko received a basket of gifts from PeaceHealth, including a Baby Box, as the first baby of the new year.

Baby Jocko, named for his mother’s brother, came into the world at seven pounds, ten ounces and 21.5 inches long. He is the first baby for parents Giovanna Scudero and Gerardo Reyes. His mother is from Metlakatla and Ketchikan. Jocko is the third grandchild on his mother’s side.

Jocko's father, Gerardo is from Ontario, Oregon. Jocko is the fourth grandchild, and the first boy, on father's side of the family.

The new family did well and went home Monday.
