John Huffer, MD, joins PeaceHealth Ketchikan as new urologist.

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center announced that John Huffer, MD, based out of Juneau, is their new urologist. He visits Ketchikan twice each month treating patients and managing chronic conditions. When not in Ketchikan, Dr. Huffer remains relatively close and continues to support patients through telemedicine. Dr. Huffer has practiced medicine in Alaska for since 2008, and he previously worked closely with PeaceHealth's recently retired Dr. Schoenrock. Dr. Huffer earned his medical degree from Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his residency in urology from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Huffer treats all issues related to the urinary system including the adrenal glands, kidneys, bladder and urethra. He appreciates the breadth of practice involved in treating urologic issues. “Urology,” according to Huffer, “is a great fusion between primary care and surgical subspecialties where I am able to treat chronic conditions while maintaining a continuity of care for my patients.” Dr. Huffer believes in building relationships with his patients. “I really like spending time with my patients to develop a personal relationship with them. I care deeply about them and their treatment plan,” Dr. Huffer shared. He additionally promotes a whole food, plant based diet indicating it is the fundamental basis for health. Quoting a news release, Dr. Huffer is eager to join PeaceHealth Ketchikan to provide a much-needed service to the community. “I believe in the continuity of regional care.
