Ketchikan, Alaska - At the first anniversary celebration Tuesday
night, Lieutenant Jerry Kiffer was awarded the first ever Firefighter
of the Year Award presented by the members of the North Tongass
Volunteer Fire Department (NTVFD).

Lt. Kiffer was selected as the Firefighter of the Year for his
tireless efforts on behalf of the department and the citizens
of the North Tongass Fire and EMS Service Area. NTFD Chief David
Hull said, "Lt. Kiffer has been instrumental in the rebuilding
process of the department in both Fire Service and Emergency
Medical Services. Lt. Kiffer has provided leadership, instruction,
and advocacy of the members of the department from day one. He
is a valued career and volunteer member of the department and
participates in a number of outside organizations including the
Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad."
