Moral Integrity
By Alan Lidstone

The Congress has been waxing eloquently about the need for reform in response to current scandals involving lobbyists and Members of Congress who apparently don't know who they represent.

I suggest the following three recommendations to improve the moral integrity of our Representatives and Senators and help them remember they represent the PEOPLE of the United States.

(1) Replace all Congressional ethics rules with the following: THOU SHALT NOT STEAL

(2) END ALL EARMARKS THAT REQUIRE APPROPRIATING FEDERAL FUNDS OR THAT MODIFY THE U.S. FEDERAL TAX LAWS AND REGULATIONS.

Note: Anything good enough for a lobbyist to recommend should be good enough to tell everyone about.

(3) END ALL FREE TRIPS FOR MEMBERS AND STAFF OF CONGRESS PAID FOR BY BUSINESSES OR LOBBYISTS.

If it is important enough for a Member of Congress to investigate and learn about, then the Federal Government should pay it to ensure that the ideas being proposed and discussed are OBJECTIVELY evaluated in terms of the needs of ALL Americans.
