A Father's Respect
By Rick Grams
February 16, 2006
Thursday
On the night of February 15, 2006 at the Ketchikan Discovery
Center, I very proudly watched Danielle Grams (my youngest daughter)
repeat the words Elizabeth Peratrovich presented to the Alaska
State Senate many years ago. Danielle spoke the words eloquently
yet with unwavering conviction while two mayors, ANB/ANS, and
members of the community looked on. As she filled the room
with those words, I couldn't help but go through the "flashback
of life" that only a parent can do while their child completes
a memorable task.
Danielle Grams is Haida and
Tshimpsian (Eagle Frog). Her Mother is Caroline Luckey
also Haida and Tshimpsian (Eagle Frog) from Ketchikan.
Danielle also has a lovely sister (Nicole), and two brothers
(Chris and Rick).
As her Father, Danielle has
my complete respect. I wanted to say this publicly because
I can clearly see how our children truly are our future.
