Ketchikan, Alaska - Representative Jim Elkins (R-Ketchikan) announced Sunday that the U. S. Department of Transportation had awarded the Alaska State Department of Transportation and Public Facilities $18,500,000 to repave the runway at the Ketchikan International Airport and improve the runway's safety.

"I am very pleased that this improvement project has finally been funded. The safety of the traveling public in Alaska is critical. The existing runway safety area does not meet Federal Aviation Administration standards and must be expanded," stated Representative Elkins.
