Gravina Project: Open Letter
to Governor Palin
By David Beebe
February 22, 2007
Thursday AM
Dear Staff Persons of Governor Palin,
My concerns over the prospect of fiscally negligent road systems
hatched by the Murkowski Administration were only partially relieved
when Governor Palin terminated the contract for the Juneau pioneer
road.
The recent activity associated with the Gravina Access Highway
is equally disturbing. I completely agree with the sentiments
of Governor Palin that the bridge is far too expensive for the
state to be involved with at this point. Unfortunately, we are
facing the same consequences as if those statements had no credence.
I respectfully urge the Governor to terminate the contracts that
are resulting in premature pre-roading construction activities
that are ill-conceived, permitted under duress, and ultimately
destructive to the local community.
Sincerely,
David Beebe
