Getting to this site was so exciting for me as my grandparents
and my mom, then 5 yrs old, left Poskin, Wisconsin to go to Alaska.
My grandpa was Clarence O. Sorenson my gram Vivian - and my mom
Beverly. My grandpa was one of the first of the settlers to die
there so my gram and mom came back to Wisconsin in 1938. I know
they were both active in the American Legion there. Grandpa was
post commander. I have over the years heard many stories about
their life in Palmer and my fondest dream is to one day be able
to visit Palmer.I have a copy of the "Valley Settler"
from Oct.7,1938. In it is an article that says my grandpa Clarence
was the first settler to die there. He died of pneumonia, he
was 38.
Is there anyone there whose
family might remember them?? I would love to hear from any one.
