Ketchikan, Alaska - Five citizens representing different organizations
involved with workforce development, job training and economic
growth in the community of Ketchikan presented a panel discussion
and seminar Thursday evening, January 31st, at the Saxman Tribal
House. This event was sponsored by weLEAD, a joint project in
collaboration between Cape Fox Heritage Foundation, W.I.S.H.
and PATCHWorks.

The participants were Noni Burno, director of the Ketchikan-based
Alaska Job Center, Doug Ward, a member of the Alaska Workforce
Investment Board, Wendy Gierard, assistant director of UAS Ketchikan,
Robert Boyle, Ketchikan superintendent of schools and Miguel
Torres of the Chamber of Commerce workforce development and education
committee. They ended their informative presentation with a human
representation of the weLEAD logo to support the importance or
leadership and collaboration in moving forward as a community
in the area of workforce development.
