RE: Wake up parents

While I tend to agree with you regarding smaller children not
being dressed appropriately, I still find the need to point something
out. I have four children, all of which never wear their coats.
Yes, I buy coats for my children every year, sometimes more
than one. Yes, I make sure they have them on when they head
to school. Yes, I remind then constanly to put on their coats.
However, once they leave my sight, the coats come off and go
straight into the backpacks! I can't even count how many times
I've been told, "Mom I left my coat in the car", or
"Mom I left my coat at school" (three hours after school
is closed).
I can completely relate to your thoughts concerning small children
and toddlers. However, elementary, middle and high school students
are old enough to tie their shoes, therefore they are old enough
to keep their coats on. Next time you're at an elementary school,
check out the lost and found. It's overflowing with coats that
are left on the playground. Just because a child is seen without
a coat doesn't mean the parent is guilty of neglect.
