Chief United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Beistline imposed the sentence on Lastimosa, age 48. According to Special Assistant United States Attorney Christine M. Thoreson, who handled the sentencing phase of the case, Lastimosa conspired with Eulogio Seludo, to sell methamphetamine in Ketchikan. The conspiracy encompassed activities such as hand-to-hand sales of methamphetamine, as well as the sending and accepting of parcels containing methamphetamine through the United States Postal Service. Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Beistline stated the evidence against Lastimosa at trial was overwhelming and that Lastimosa did a disservice to Ketchikan by introducing methamphetamine into the community. Russo commended the Drug Enforcement
Administration, the United States Postal Inspection Service,
and the Ketchikan Police Department for the investigation leading
to the successful prosecution of Lastimosa.
