South trail snow removal

I am concerned about people walking on the road between Ketchikan and points south, especially Saxman after a snowfall. As this is a state road why can't the state road crew send a snow blower to keep the walking trail clear? Many people use this trail, some because they like to walk and some because it is the only way they can get to town.

Coming from Forest Park I have seen many walkers, both old and very young, during the dark hours on the road wearing dark clothes. This is very unsafe for both walker and driver. If the state can't or won't take care of this problem perhaps the cities of Ketchikan and, or Saxman could address this problem.

Anyone else think this is a problem?
