Southeast Conference Hosts Mid-Session SummitSummit to celebrate AMHS’s 50th anniversary and Build Stronger Regional Leadership
February 18, 2013
“Our ferry system is critically important to our regional economic interconnectivity,” explained Wright. “Southeast Conference began with a group of regional leaders advocating for the ferry system. So the fact that we are here, celebrating AMHS’s 50th birthday at a Southeast Conference event is incredibly exciting and important," said Wright. To commemorate the 50th year of AMHS, KTOO is producing a series of documentaries and the first one will be premiered in conjunction with the Mid-Session Summit in two special showings: A ‘red carpet’ event at the 20th Century Theatre with hors d’oeuvres and champagne. An additional special viewing will be at Centennial Hall during Southeast Conference Mid-Session summit, following a conference luncheon; the cost for non-registered guests who wish to attend luncheon will be $15.00. "This is a tribute to so many hard working Southeast Alaskans over the past five decades. I have heard the documentary is phenomenal," said Wright. Other events at Mid-Session Summit focus on “Community Leadership”. These events include presentations from mayors across the Southeast region providing updates on their communities; a Community Character Building Workshop, Presented by Rodney Ray and Michele Dempster; a Legislative Panel exploring economic development; breakout sessions on the Southeast Alaska Maritime, Fishing, Timber and Mining industries; and a keynote presentation by D.J. Vanas entitled “Integrating the Warrior Culture into Your Culture.” Mr. Vanas will also host a workshop on how to create high-performance environments while building trust, commitment and motivation. These events are open to the public.
