Rezone of Quarry area case number 14-001 By Peter Ellis and Roz Ellis February 01, 2014
The area has already suffered from periodic blasting efforts...many buildings and other structures have been damaged as well as homes in the area. Hamilton talks about grading costs and how if the rezone is granted his costs to develop the area would be less. Grading costs are the same whether the land is zoned residential or heavy industrial. The only way his costs would be less is if rezone is granted, he could sell the resulting blasted rock for a profit thus bringing his rock grading costs down. Some 24 years ago we bought property in the area and built a home. We chose the area because of the larger lot size which would give us more privacy and quieter living conditions. We did not choose to live in or adjacent to an heavy industrial area. Let us maintain our once peaceful neighborhood, freeing us from the air and noise pollution, the ensuing heavy traffic, the rock grinding and storage, and the blasting and resulting damage. We are vehemently opposed to this rezone request. Peter Ellis and Roz Ellis Case Number 14-001: The Rezoning of Residential land in town to Heavy Industrial and Unrestricted Commercial.
