The first units arriving reported heavy smoke coming from the second floor window. According to Public Safety Director Rich Leipfert, initial attack teams entered the home and found a fire in the main living area and in the attic spaced. The fire department estimates of the fire damage to the structure at $90,000. However, there is a significant potential for chemical contamination from the stored contents, which may result in higher damage estimates. Photo by Chris Wilhelm Seven fire rescue vehicles responded to the blaze with 27 Ketchikan Fire Department personnel. The responding units were on scene until 1:30 pm Thursday. The fire is currently under investigation by the Ketchikan Fire Department and the Ketchikan Police Department investigators.
