Jamie and Jeffery are both 10th grade honor roll students at Ketchikan High School. Jamie has been playing the flute for 6 years, the tenor saxophone for 4 years and the piccolo for 2 years. Jeffery has been playing the trumpet for 6 years. Both hope to major in music performance in college and some day play with symphony orchestras. They presently play with several Kayhi bands, the McPherson Jazz Clubs, other community bands, and have been selected for Honor bands. Their parents are Debbie and Dan Karlson of Ketchikan. The Sam Pitcher Memorial Scholarship
Fund was established by the family and friends of Sam Pitcher
to honor his memory because of his great love for music and the
rewarding experiences he had attending summer music programs.
The fund awards scholarships to Ketchikan students in grades
7 - 12 to help them attend similar summer music programs. The
Sam Pitcher Memorial Fund is an advisory committee of the Ketchikan
Area Arts and Humanities Council. Tax deductible donations can
be made to the fund, c/o KAAHC, 716 Totem Way, Ketchikan, AK
