Coast Guard responds to grounded
vessel

Personnel from the Coast Guard Marine Safety Office in Juneau
responded to a grounded vessel this morning north of Aurora Harbor
in Juneau. The 47-foot Seafari broke loose from its mooring and
grounded at low tide.

The Coast Guard contacted the owners of the vessel to inform
them of the situation. The owners told the Coast Guard there
is approximately 1,000 gallons of diesel mixed with water on
board the vessel. No breach of the hull was discovered and no
presence of any discharge was seen by Coast Guard personnel.
The owners of the vessel have made plans to lighter the fuel
mixture off the vessel today. The Coast guard will monitor the
situation.
