Marquez, 59, is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin School of Law. He has practiced law in Alaska for over 30 years, spending most of that time on natural resource issues. He served as General Counsel for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. Marquez also worked for ARCO for over 20 years where he was an Associate General Counsel serving in Anchorage, Vice President and Chief Counsel for ARCO Alaska and Vice President of External Affairs and Environment, Health and Safety for ARCO Alaska. Marquez has served as the Chief Assistant Attorney General, Legislative and Regulations Section in the Alaska Department of Law and currently serves as the Acting Deputy Attorney General, Civil Division for the Department. "Serving as a key part of the Department of Law's management team, David Marquez has demonstrated consistent, strong leadership," said Murkowski. "His wealth of experience as an attorney in Alaska for 30 years and his background in both the private and public sector will serve him well as Attorney General. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to manage a Department of Law that looks out for the interests of Alaskans." Fredriksson, 54, graduated from California State University Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in geography and a master's degree in environmental studies. He worked in the Office of Coastal Management from 1979 to 1990, before moving to the Department of Environmental Conservation. He has served as the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Acting Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Spill Prevention and Response Division Director. "As Alaskans, we understand the uniqueness and value of our environment," said the governor. "For many years, Kurt Fredriksson has played an important role in Alaska's efforts to ensure that our environment is protected. Alaskans know that we can develop our resources responsibly. I am committed to a vibrant economy and a clean environment. Kurt is the right man at the right time to lead DEC as they work to streamline permitting, while ensuring environmental protection." Campbell, 54, is a graduate of Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. A former Deputy Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Campbell also served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Walter Hickel and as a Special Assistant to the Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Since 1995, he has served as a natural resource consultant. Campbell also worked nine years in the Alaska State Senate as legislative committee staff, serving most of that time working on natural resource issues. Campbell is a past member of the Juneau Assembly, Juneau Parks and Recreation Commission and the Juneau Planning Commission. "McKie brings to the department an impressive depth of knowledge about resource issues and state government," said Murkowski. "Alaskans everywhere have a connection to our fisheries and to our game resources, for profit and for pleasure.
