Draft is last thing needed
By Devin Klose

March 27, 2006
Monday

In response to Mr. Pat Jirschele's letter, I would like to say a few things. First off, a draft is the LAST thing a country like ours needs. With the presidents approval ratings dropping rapidly (now around 38%), a draft would only cause this country to fall apart even more.

Mr. Jirschele, being of older age I assume, would not fall under the qualifications of a draft. Of course a right-winged Republican would most certainly like to see the war in Iraq continued until the bitter end, even if it means FORCING young men to go overseas. I find it shocking that people support a draft, and even sad. What this country needs to do is realize the mistakes it has made the last several years and find out an alternate way to fix them. A plan that does not include putting MY life on the line for something I stand greatly against. A draft occurring sometime in the future would be very detrimental to this country, as well as many young men's future. I only hope that a draft will not occur, and that more people will realize how horrible it would be if one did happen.
