PROUD OF OUR KAYHI KIDS
By Karen Owings

March 15, 2011
Tuesday AM

I had the privilege of watching the Region V 3A/4A Tournament.  I want to say how proud I am of the Ketchikan High School students who travelled to Juneau to play or perform during this tournament; Kayhi Boys Basketball, Kayhi Lady Kings, Kayhi Cheerleaders, Kayhi Pep Club, K-Highlites Dance Team, Kayhi Pep Band and last but not least the K-Highlites Dance Team Prom Dates.  Competition is always fierce during the Region V Tournament, yet our students displayed impressive sportsmanship, great attitudes, respect and manners while in Juneau.  Regardless of the situation, our students continually demonstrated by their actions and words that they are terrific representatives of our community.

I would also like to thank the Kayhi staff, coaches and chaperones who travelled with their teams/groups.  Several students contracted the flu on the way to Juneau and several more on the way home.  The chaperones cared for our kids around the clock until they were better.  Sleep was a rare commodity this week and they forged ahead with a smile, great attitudes and tremendous support for our kids.

Kayhi Boys and Girls basketball players - thank you for the excellent basketball games and great attitudes.  Your talent and sportsmanship make us proud.

Kayhi Cheerleaders - thank you for leading the Kayhi crowd with great school spirit, enthusiasm and Kayhi cheers.

Kayhi Pep Club - thank you for your outstanding spirit and contagious enthusiasm that encourages the crowd to cheer our teams to success.

K-Highlites - thank you for performing so many incredible dances this week.  Your routines are always terrific and such a pleasure to watch.

Kayhi Pep Band - you were amazing!  Your talent and your attitudes are first class.  All week I heard comments about how terrific the Kayhi Pep Band is.  Thank you for the great music.

Kayhi Prom Dates - you guys were terrific.  Your performances were fabulous.  You were polite, patient and always there to help with props, equipment, and bags.  You performed at a moment’s notice and there to help when needed and always with a positive attitude.

Kayhi Staff, Coaches and Chaperones - thank you for everything!

Sincerely,

Karen Owings
