RE: The Fair Tax INCREASES WELFARE By Wiley Brooks March 03, 2014
Mr. Eldridge is a proponent of the Flat Tax. Followers of Congressional tax proposals know that former Republican Congressman from Texas, Dick Armey, was the lead sponsor of the Flat Tax while in Congress. Mr. Armey retired from Congress in 2002 and became a policy advisor to DLA Piper. DLA Piper is an Anglo-American multinational law firm with 4,200 lawyers located in more than 30 countries throughout the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. It is the largest law firm in the world measured by revenue and number of lawyers. It is also one of the most powerful lobbyist groups on Capitol Hill. The Flat Tax will not end the IRS and the influence of lobbyist on tax law. The FairTax will end the IRS and the entrenched lobbyist influence on tax law. A tax system that proposes to end the tax on income and the corrupted IRS has powerful opposition forces working against it. Many of those who have invested their lives to a vocation, even though thoroughly flawed and corrupt, will fight for its continued life. The Flat Tax is a continuation of a centuries old method of confiscating personal property by the ruling class. It was corrupt and ill administered in the days of the Pharaoh’s and that has continued to be true in our 100 year experiment with the income tax. Even though Mr. Eldridge offers a plan that is simple and less burdensome, there should be no hope it will remain simple. The original income tax implemented in 1913 affected only earners in the top 94 to 96 percentile. It was progressive but very simple and regulated by only 400 pages. Today it is regulated by 75,000 pages filled with special interest and growing. Wiley Brooks Americans for Fair Taxation
