Injured logger medevaced

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - A 47-year-old man who was hit by a falling tree last Wednesday at a logging camp on Cleveland Peninsula near Ketchikan, was medevaced by the USCG.
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew landed on the beach, transferred the injured logger onto their aircraft and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services in Ketchikan.
“Our operational crews are ready to respond to emergency medical situations on both land and sea,” said Lt. Cmdr. Tad Drozdowski, command duty officer, 17th District. “We train regularly in order to safely and efficiently transport the sick and injured to a higher level of care when necessary.”
The name of the injured logger was not released.
Weather on scene was reported as 6 mph winds with a light rain and snow mix.
