Guyselman attends marketing conference with a credit union spin

The Marketing and Business Development Conference, held March 20-23, 2016, was presented by CUNA Councils which is a professional development organization run by credit union leaders for credit union leaders. The CUNA Councils are directed by more than 300 credit union volunteers. The Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) offers training, networking opportunities and resources to help marketing and business development professionals increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their credit union. Tongass Federal Credit Union was founded in 1963 by a group of teachers and public employees, and soon joined by hospital workers, Tongass Federal Credit Union in the early days had humble beginnings. Originally it was a desk in the School Superintendent’s Office, as members pooled their money to provide capital (savings) and made loans to each other. This concept of “People-Helping-People” still drives credit unions today as not-for profit financial cooperatives In the Spring of 1999, Tongass Federal Credit Union had their first permanent facility with drive-thru opened in Ketchikan In December 2001, The National Credit Union Administration granted Tongass Federal Credit Union's community charter to include all of Southern Southeast Alaska. Today, Tongass Federal Credit Union has branches located in Ketchikan, Metlakatla, Klawock and Thorne Bay.
