Sunday's event is part of the 24th annual Bowl For Kids' Sake campaign of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Alaska. Bowl For Kids' Sake is about fun and about helping kids. It's the largest national fund-raising campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters and an integral funding component for most BBBS local agencies over the years. This is the first time this annual event will be held in Ketchikan.

Local Big Brothers Big Sisters Coordinator Gretchen Klein said, "Let's put a smile in every frame by helping with Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake April 4th. I am excited about the response and support from volunteers who will help check people in and give out food, t-shirts, and prizes the day of the event."

According to Klein the first bowling session is scheduled to start at 1:30-2:30PM Sunday and the second session is scheduled for 3:00-4:00PM at the Ketchikan Entertainment Center. Klein said on the local level their goal is to have 32 teams and they hope to have all their lanes filled Sunday. Klein said, "We would also like to see a great cheering section too!"

These teams consist of 4-5 adults and kids who have collected $150.00 pledges to help support the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

The public is invited to drop by the Entertainment Center or stop by after visiting the FIRST CITY EXPO. She said there will be a booth to answer any questions about the Bowl For Kids Sake event.

The goal is the raise over $20,000.00 in Ketchikan. Klein said the funds raised by Bowl For Kids' Sake will go directly to serving more kids in Ketchikan and throughout the region.
