Breastfeeding needs to be
promoted as the norm

What a dangerous and uninformed column from Mr. Glassman on April
4, 2005 about breastfeeding. Formula use in all societies increase
mortality and morbidity. Costs of formula in the 3rd world is
prohibitive.
Breastfeeding needs to be promoted
as the norm and governments/ industry should be looking at ways
to support women in the workplace who are lactating. Work and
breastfeeding are not mutually exclusive, as hundreds of thousands
of women have returned to work and continued breastfeeding.
Having appropriate support in the workplace is the key. Mr.
Glassman needs to do his homework!
