Walter Reed Army Hospital
is no Ketchikan General

Walter Reed Army Hospital is Bad and Incompetent Because it is
GOVERNMENT RUN!
All government entities are inherently incompetent; the Post
Office, Education, Welfare Departments, Law Enforcement and unfortunately
even the military and their hospitals. Because there is no competition,
management does not knock itself out to be always and ever more
efficient. Because it is virtually impossible to terminate poor
workers after a probation period, too many government workers
are not up to their jobs. Because like in many union environments,
all workers in a class receive the same exact pay; hard workers
and malingerers alike, there is little incentive to work hard.
In some areas like national defense we have to put up with government
employees running the show. You have to be a dyed in the wool
Pollyanna to expect government hospitals Walter Reed included
to be as efficient, cost effective and comfortable as say Bartlett
Regional Hospital in Juneau or Peace Health operated Ketchikan
General Hospital is. Like the idea of Socialized medicine as
a cost saver? Then all hospitals will be as awful as Walter
Reed so you better reconsider!
In the meantime, let's transfer wounded and ill servicemen to
better, privately run healthcare facilities as soon as practical.
Comparing Government to Private hospitals is like the service
comparison of Federal Express and the U.S. Postal Service! If
you "Absolutely. Positively" want to get better ...
Go private industry.
