My gratitude to Mr. Martin
By Cecelia Johnson

Wednesday PM
As I work with family issues regarding education I found myself
talking to Superintendent Martin who listened, really listened.
There was missing a condescending and patronizing attitude which
I have often experienced. I kept waiting for this attitude to
appear and it did not. I walked out of the environment with
a light step.
The school system here still
needs to be educated on minority, namely, Alaska Native student
issues. There is still much work to be done, but I saw a faint
light at the end of the tunnel when I stated my concerns, which
gave me hope for this community's educational system. My gratitude
to Mr. Martin.
