Schoencliff Debacle #2
By Jackie Williams

Dear Editor,

Once again, we are being offered the Schoencliff Center, or that is my opinion after reading the Introduction in the proposal from Dawson Construction to remodel the more than 75-year-old building. The mention of tenants; of other groups or agencies that have invested much time and energy, sounds just like Schoencliff Center. The collection of property tax that makes it seem like KGB will have an offset in costs, I believe will be paid by the KGB through rental fees

Go to the KGB website and read it for yourself; http://borough.ketchikan.ak.us/ on the homepage is a link to all the proposals. There is a special meeting this Friday, April 18, to discuss proposals and possibly award a contract. (Schoencliff Debacle #2 is the favored proposal.)

If the old building was replaced with a brand new building, on this great location, I would be willing to be taxed for this need and more future generations would be able to use it than the current proposal. Probably to late for this to happen.

Regarding the Schoenbar Debacle, we the citizens lived it and have an emotional investment. I believe the community does not even want to consider such an experience again with another remodel of an old building.

This is my opinion and no disrespect is intended.

Sincerely,

Jackie Williams
