The printed copies of the brochure describing the parcels of land for sale are now available at the DNR Public Information Offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. In addition, the brochure is available at most libraries, Legislative Information Offices, Recorder's Offices, and other state and local agencies. The Auction #458 Brochure is also available on line. The brochure is provided to the public free of charge by the Department of Natural Resources. A copy of the brochure can be mailed; however, a postage and handling charge of $1.85 will apply for each copy requested. DNR can accept Visa or Master Card over the telephone or you may mail in your request for a brochure with a check made payable to the "Department of Natural Resources" to any of the DNR Public Information Offices listed below:
Potential purchasers will have 45 days to review the brochure, personally inspect the parcels, and submit a sealed bid by 5:00 PM, May 18, 2008. The State of Alaska sells land "as is" and "where is". It is the bidders' responsibility to inform themselves of the conditions and restrictions of the parcel before placing a bid. Bids may be for any value equal to or greater than the appraised fair market value as listed in the brochure. Bid applications must include a down payment in the form of a personal check, cashier's check, money order or a Visa or Master Card authorization of not less than 5% of the bid amount. Those wishing to submit bids on-line may do so using a Visa or MasterCard. Credit card authorizations will be processed at the bid opening for successful bids only. Only Alaska residents are eligible to bid in the sealed bid auction. To qualify as a resident you must be a current Alaska resident and have resided in Alaska for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the sealed bid opening (June 4, 2008). A person may bid on multiple parcels, but only one parcel per person will be awarded during the sealed bid auction. Sealed bids will be publicly opened on June 4, 2008 in the Anchorage DNR Public Information Office. The Fairbanks and Juneau DNR Public Information Offices will participate in the auction over the internet. Parcels not sold during the sealed bid auction may become available for sale during the Initial Over-the-Counter (IOTC) Lottery, for the appraised fair market value as listed in the brochure. Non-residents may participate in the IOTC Lottery. There is no restriction on the number of parcels that may be purchased in the IOTC Lottery.
