I spoke with Karen Brand, Recreation
Department Supervisor and was told the summer long closure was
to prevent environmental damage from people walking on unimproved
trail during construction. This is not a justified reason to
close off entry to miles of back country for an entire recreation
season. If sections of trail are muddy due to construction activities,
people can detour around them. This trail closure is for the
convenience of the Forest Service and is an unreasonable imposition
