KETCHIKAN GENERAL HOSPITAL DIABETES EDUCATION GROUP CLASSES

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - Dawn Teplick, RN, Diabetes Educator at Ketchikan General Hospital announced the start of the next series of Diabetes Education group classes on Tuesday, May 21. Additional classes will run consecutive Tuesday nights through June 14. All classes will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the in the Cedar Point Conference Room, 25 Jefferson Way, Suite 202.
Class dates and topics are as follows:
May 24: Diabetes Basics and Nutrition
May 31: Carbohydrate Counting; Self Blood Sugar Testing; Low Blood Sugar; Physical Activity
June 7: High Blood Sugar/Sick Day Guidelines; Prevention; Complications; Healthy Eating
June 14: Meal Planning; Stress; Medications; Sexual Health; Sleep; Depression; Resources
Medicare and other insurance billed if eligible. The 8-hour series of classes cost $330.00 and includes two private one-on-one sessions. Attendees may bring one support person free. Call 228-7685 to pre-register by May 20.
Monthly diabetes lectures are available at the Ketchikan Public Health Center, 3054 Fifth Avenue, 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday or every month. The lectures are free of charge and open to the public.
