Twenty-seven University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Students to Graduate

This year’s commencement keynote speaker is Elizabeth Nelson, Artistic Director for First City Players and 2012 Distinguished Woman of the Year. UAS Chancellor John Pugh, UAS Ketchikan Interim Campus Director Priscilla Schulte, and University of Alaska Board of Regents members Dale Anderson of Juneau, Fuller Cowell of Big Lake, and Mari Freitag, student regent originally from Ketchikan, will bestow degrees at the ceremony. Twenty-seven University of Alaska Southeast students are receiving degrees this spring. University of Alaska students living in Ketchikan and receiving degrees from other University of Alaska campuses are invited to participate in the local ceremony. Certificate – Fish Culture Associate of Arts – Fisheries Management Associate of Applied Science - Business Administration Associate of Applied Science – Computer Information & Office Systems Associate of Applied Science - Fisheries Technology Bachelor of Business Administration Bachelor of Elementary Education Bachelor of Liberal Arts – Interdisciplinary Studies Master of Education – Mathematics Education Master of Education – Reading Specialist & Graduate Certificate Master of Social Work (UAA) Master of Teaching – Elementary Education & Graduate Certificate Master of Teaching – Secondary Education Jim Baichtal, USFS Geologist, will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Science. The University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan campus provides a wide variety of educational courses and programs to Ketchikan and the surrounding communities throughout the year. Courses and programs are available locally and via e-Learning classes. Through these offerings, students can achieve certifications, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
