Ketchikan Community Chorus By Judith Green
April 16, 2013
Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14, before the income tax deadline, many community members gave of their time and talent to present a program of enjoyable vocal music. Many, if not all, participants are busy at this time of year - yet for the 'joy of music' and for the good of the community, they took time to rehearse week after week. This gift of vocal music is good for the performer as well the listener. Under the direction of Steve Kinney, the Community Chorus, once again, put together a beautiful program. There were several soloists, Lalette Kistler, Michael Fitzgerald and Steve Kinney, and also a bassoon/oboe duet with Deidre Nuss and Kathleen Light. The chorus sang the Faure' Requiem, with piano and organ accompaniment, several string instruments and clarinet. As Kathleen said - what better way to spend a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon than listening to and enjoying the shared talents of so many local musicians. Thank you to each of the talented community members - to those who helped in the sidelines to make it possible - and to those in the community who came to listen and enjoy.
