As I opened up SitNews Wednesday morning after working all night, I saw a photo I took the other day was used as the front page feature photo. I was immediately thrilled to see it there, it is always such a huge compliment and a boost to the ego when she uses one of my photos. It got me to thinking about SitNews and how much I appreciate all the many hours of hard work and thought and love that goes into producing this website for Ketchikan.
I know that Mary Kauffman with the help of her late husband Richard Kauffman started this site many years ago. It is so easy for us to simply open the website and browse all the information that is published without really giving any thought to how all this information is provided to us free of charge. No cost. I believe we have the many sponsors who pay to have ads on the front page to also thank for helping provide this free website. These wonderful sponsors make this possible by paying for advertising on SitNews which provides funds needed to help cover some of the costs for stories and articles and news feeds that amount to a considerable sum of money. So, please, continue to go to SitNews to find the websites of your favorite businesses and support these businesses.
The one cost that cannot be measured would be all the hours put into publishing all this information each time we see a new update to the website. If you have never tried to publish a website, it is hard to really understand how much work goes into it that we as readers never get to see. We just get the finished product. And all this is done by one person. Just one. Amazing........
I also would like to thank the many people over the years that have submitted their photos to SitNews for publication. I have enjoyed seeing them on SitNews and I believe that the photographers are probably just as thrilled as I was Wednesday, when they saw their own photos up on SitNews. All this joy, provided by Mary Kauffman to the people of Ketchikan.
Mary, I just want to say a huge, heartfelt Thank you, for all that you have done and continue to do for our community.
