New Family Nurse Practitioner Joins Creekside Family Health Clinic
April 04, 2018
Strouth-Shaw started her nursing career at Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center in 2001 and brings with her an outstanding record of service and experience to her new role as a Family Nurse Practitioner. At Creekside, she will be providing acute and primary health care to children, adolescents, and adults under the age of 65. Strouth-Shaw recently graduated from Simmons College in Boston, MA with her Master of Science in Nursing and gained board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. "Through my experience in intensive care, maternity, and newborn care, I realized the importance of helping patients avoid health care complications through wellness and preventative care. Since this is the type of care emphasized at Creekside, I'm excited to join their practice, and really appreciate their overall model”, says Strouth-Shaw. Her recruitment also dovetails nicely with Creekside's long-standing mission to increase convenient access to care, according to Lani Hill, Nurse Practitioner and clinic owner. "Shawna's recruitment, along with the four other Nurse Practitioners at Creekside, will really help us be the same-day walk-in clinic that we've always wanted to be. This model is pretty staff intensive and we feel very lucky and honored to have someone of Shawna's caliber join us", said Hill Strouth-Shaw has strong family and community ties in Ketchikan. She, and her husband Ken, raised (and are still raising) their four sons here. She is also active in First Baptist Church, Ketchikan Youth Court, and homeschooling.
