Of these new cases announced today, two are male and three are female. One is aged 10-19; one is aged 20-29; one is aged 30-39; one is aged 40-49 and one aged 60-69. There have been 32 total hospitalizations and eight deaths with one new hospitalization and no new deaths yesterday. The new positive Juneau case is a staff member working at Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) in Juneau. This is the third Lemon Creek staff member who has tested positive for the virus. (More specifically, they are the individual cases reported on April 10, April 12, and April 13.) Due to reporting protocols, the newest case won’t be counted in state numbers until tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14th. There are no known cases among inmates. Department of Corrections (DOC) is monitoring inmates and other staff closely for symptoms, and Public Health Nurses are working collaboratively with DOC to test additional staff and continue daily monitoring of exposed staff. Sunday, there were 15 new cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, April 11th announced in seven Alaska communities – Anchorage (5), Fairbanks (3), Girdwood (1) Juneau (1), Ketchikan (1), Palmer (1), Wasilla (3), bringing the total case count in Alaska to 272 on Sunday. The new case in Ketchikan brings the total of positive cases to 15. According to the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center (EOC), it is not yet known if this individual has a history of recent travel, or was in close contact with a person who was previously reported as testing positive to COVID-19. This information is being investigated by Public Health. This individual sought testing and self-isolated after experiencing symptoms. Of the new cases announced Sunday, seven are male and eight are female. One is under age 10; two are aged 10-19; two are aged 20-29; one is aged 30-39; one is aged 40-49; three are aged 50-59, four are aged 60-69 and one is aged 80+. No new hospitalizations or deaths were reported on Sunday. Saturday, one new death and 11 new cases of COVID-19 in three Alaska communities were announced as of Friday, April 10th – Anchorage (9), Craig (1) and Wasilla (1). This brought the total case count in Alaska to 257 on Saturday. This was the first case reported in Craig, located on Prince of Wales Island in southeast. Of the new cases announced Saturday, five are male and six are female. One is under age 10; two are aged 10-19; three are aged 20-29; one is aged 30-39; two are aged 50-59, one is aged 60-69 and one is aged 70-79. There have been 31 total hospitalizations with three new hospitalizations yesterday. The person who died Friday was a 73-year-old female from Fairbanks. Foundation Health Partners reported in a press release that she passed away at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, bringing the total deaths in Alaska to eight. “Our thoughts are with this individual’s family and loved ones,” said DHSS Commissioner Adam Crum. “Every time we lose a life to COVID-19, we pause to reflect on the loss and also to remind ourselves of the importance of staying home to save lives, maintaining physical distance from non-household members, practicing careful hand hygiene and wearing a mask in public settings where social distancing is difficult to maintain.” Friday, 11 new cases of COVID-19 in seven Alaska communities were announced as of Thursday, April 09th – Anchorage (3), Palmer (1), Wasilla (1), Kenai (1), Fairbanks (3), North Pole (1) and Juneau (1), bringing the total case count on Friday in Alaska to 246. Of the new cases reported Friday, nine are male and two are female. Five are aged 30-39; two are aged 40-49; two are aged 50-59, two are aged 60-69. As of Friday, there have been 28 total hospitalizations with one new hospitalization Thursday.
