Concerning the Gravina Bridge
by Stephen Smeltzer

Tuesday
This is one time I have to agree with Don Hoff Jr., and the others
who have spoken out against this Pork Barrel Project. I have
been against the Gravina bridge for over 20 years. Not only
is this a free ride for the folks that have land on Gravina,
but also for the few lazy people that don't want to take a short
ferry ride to work. I've taken flak with that statement before,
but as a school teacher once said, "they say the truth hurts."
It's funny, for so many years people have whined about getting
a hard link to the airport, now there are people who are against
it.
Live with it people, Ketchikan
is still too small a town for a $230M+ bridge to the airport.
It's not like the old days when we had to fly to Annette to catch
the jet out of town. In a few minutes you are at the airport.
Try living in Seattle, Anchorage, or even Chicago and say that.
Although for those of you that have to have tons of luggage,
a baggage cart system like on the State ferrys would be a nice
addition.
That's my opinion!
