Permanent Fund belongs to Alaska citizens
by Don Hoff Jr.

Governor Frank Murkowski and Republican Guard Lawmakers are doing their best to get half of your $28 billion Alaska Permanent Fund. They want to dedicate half of its proceeds to State, Local governments and education. That is the most idiotic idea the Governor can come up with.

Mr. Edgar Blatchford stated, "A statewide poll indicated that 93% of Alaskans want a fiscal plan." May be true, They didn't mean to tap into the Alaska Permanent Fund.

The State of Alaska officials are going to try to deceive you to believe that a constitutional amendment to change the way the $28 billion in the Permanent Fund is spent to save the State and local government from being in debt. Do not believe them.

The State of Alaska already receives a portion of the Alaska oil revenues to run state government and includes education. A portion of oil revenue money is added to the principle of the Alaska Permanent Fund earning dividends for All Alaskans.

The Permanent Fund belongs to the citizens of Alaska. It is your nest egg; savings account; helps pays property tax, rent, down payment on a car, vacations and it stimulates the local economy, buys clothes and provides food for families. Governor Murkowski and his Republican Guard want to take that from you. Governor Murkowski has cut down all your trees, caught all your fish, allows the shooting of wolves from planes, pumped all your oil, taken the longevity fund from senior citizens and now he wants to steal your Permanent Fund. This Governor is going to try to brain-wash you to believe it is the right thing to do. But, it is not. What about the future generations of children that will need their share of the Permanent Fund?

I know Vic Fischer and he didn't write in his book that it is okay for government to extort money from the people of Alaska. Edgar Blatchford, Commissioner of the Department of Community and Economic Development is trying to con you and use scare tactics to change your mind. I read Mr.Blatchford's opinion more than once and I found it confusing. This is brain washing at its best. The governor must think you're really stupid to have you vote to cut your permanent fund check.

Reduce government pork barrel spending, reduce the size of government, reduce basic services, reduce road maintenance. Bring back State Tax. There is an idea. There will be elections. Vote for canidates that will protect the permanent fund for you, your children and your grandchildren. Alaska's future. This is my opinion.
