General Obligation Bond Package
Voters will decide on funding

State House on Tuesday passed a bill that would ask voters to
approve the issuance of $93,280,000 million in general obligation
bonds to accelerate the

"This bond package includes
road improvements funding from Nome to Ketchikan and includes
many needed statewide community harbor improvements," explained
House Finance Co-Chair Representative Bill Williams (R-Saxman).
"Our state relies on roads and harbors to facilitate economic
development and growth and these bonds will help build needed
statewide transportation infrastructure," added Williams.
The $93 million in bonds proposed
in House Bill 561 will only be issued if voters approve them
at the polls this November.
Southeast Alaska project funding include:
- $2,650,000 million for Ketchikan
harbor renovations
- $500,000 for Ketchikan Gateway
Borough road and pedestrian improvements
- $500,000 for the City of Ketchikan
road and pedestrian improvements
- $2,500,000 for Sitka harbor
improvements
- $2,300,000 for Juneau area-wide
transportation improvements
- $1,200,000 for Petersburg
harbor improvements
- $1,400,000 for Wrangell harbor
improvements
- $4,800,000 for other statewide
harbor deferred maintenance needs that will be used for coastal
community harbor needs
