Williams Named Bush Legislator of the Year

Ketchikan, AK - Members of the Alaska House of Representatives Bush Caucus have recognized Representative Bill Williams (R-Saxman), as their Bush Legislator of the Year.

Representative Williams has served for twelve years in the Alaska House of Representatives and will be leaving the House to run for the Alaska Senate. For the past four years he has served as Co-chair of the Alaska House Finance Committee where he has worked tirelessly in support of Bush priorities.

His colleagues commended his open leadership style and his willingness to work in a bipartisan manner to merge together differing Bush philosophies and other broad statewide concerns to address the diverse social and economic needs of the state.

Representative Mary Kapsner (D-Bethel), Chair of the House Bush Caucus, said the Caucus recognizes, "The Bush is fortunate to have someone with Representative Williams' abilities and understanding of statewide rural needs in a key House leadership position."

Representative Richard Foster (R-Nome), said, "Representative Williams is more than just a leader, he has been a dear friend to all of us."
