I spent a portion of Saturday morning cleaning up a stretch of the North Tongass Highway with a church group. I was amazed and intrigued to notice that an overwhelming majority of the trash consisted of cast off alcohol and tobacco products. What is it about either of these habits that correlates with feeling free to hurl garbage out your car's window? Now, I'm sure that there are plenty of smokers and drinkers that would never toss trash on the highway, but the evidence is irrefutable that many do. Michael Fitzgerald
